Refund & Cancellation Policy
Trial, cancellation, withdrawal and refund rules for Secretus subscriptions.
Secretus is trial-first: you evaluate the full product for 14 days before paying anything, and no card is collected for the trial. This page explains how paid subscriptions, cancellation, and refunds work once you do purchase a plan through our Stripe-hosted checkout.
1. How Purchases Work
- Try before you pay
- Every new account starts with a 14-day full-access free trial. No payment card is required to start the trial, and nothing is charged unless you actively purchase a plan.
- Subscriptions
- Paid plans (Starter, Pro, Business) are subscriptions — billed monthly or annually, as you choose at checkout — purchased through a secure checkout hosted by Stripe. Prices are shown exclusive of tax; any applicable VAT, sales tax, or GST is calculated and displayed at checkout before you confirm.
- Merchant of record
- Checkout uses Stripe Managed Payments: your payment purchase is completed with Link (Sold through Link, LLC) as the merchant of record. Your card or bank statement will show a descriptor beginning with "LINK.COM*", and receipts, tax invoices, renewal reminders, and refund notifications are emailed to you by Link/Stripe with PDF copies attached.
- Auto-renewal
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period — monthly or yearly, per the interval you chose at checkout — until cancelled. Link/Stripe sends upcoming-renewal and payment-failure notifications to your email address.
2. Cancellation
- Cancel anytime
- You can cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation stops future renewals; your plan remains active until the end of the billing period you have already paid for.
- How to cancel
- Use the "Manage Billing" button on your profile (opens Stripe's billing portal, where you can also switch plans with automatic proration or renew a scheduled cancellation), use the order-management links in any Link/Stripe receipt, or simply email billing@secretus.app from your account email and we will process it for you without questions.
- After cancellation
- When your paid period ends, your account is not deleted: you keep sign-in access and previously received information, but creating new secrets and other plan features require an active subscription again.
- Deleting your account
- Deleting your account cancels any active subscription immediately and removes your saved payment method at Stripe. The already-paid current period is not refunded (your statutory rights, including Section 4, are unaffected) — if you want to use up the period you paid for, cancel first and delete the account after it ends. Invoices already issued remain with Stripe/Link under their legal retention obligations.
- Trial ending
- If you do not purchase a plan, your trial simply expires. Nothing is charged, because no payment method was collected.
3. Refunds
- First purchase — 14 days
- If you are not satisfied, you can request a full refund of your first subscription payment within 14 days of that payment, no justification required. This mirrors and preserves the EU/EEA consumer right of withdrawal described in Section 4.
- Renewals
- Renewal charges are generally non-refundable once a billing period has started, but if you cancel promptly after an unwanted renewal (within 14 days) and have not made material use of the service in that period, contact us and we will review the request in good faith. Statutory rights that cannot be waived remain unaffected.
- How to request
- For an eligible first payment, use the “Withdraw from contract here” function at https://secretus.app/withdrawal after signing in, so the contract can be identified securely. You may always alternatively email billing@secretus.app with an unequivocal withdrawal statement or contact Link support using the links in your receipt.
- How refunds are paid
- Refunds are processed by Stripe/Link to your original payment method and include any tax you paid on the refunded amount. Depending on your bank, the credit typically appears within 5–10 business days. Bank or currency-conversion fees charged by your own bank are outside our control.
- Fair use of refunds
- Refunds beyond your statutory rights are a goodwill policy, not an entitlement. We may decline discretionary refunds where we see abuse — for example repeated purchase-and-refund cycles, refund requests after heavy use of paid features in the period, or trial circumvention through duplicate accounts. Statutory rights (including the withdrawal right in Section 4) are never affected.
4. EU/EEA Right of Withdrawal
- Your statutory right
- If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract for digital services within 14 days without giving any reason (Directive 2011/83/EU; in Romania, OUG nr. 34/2014).
- Immediate performance
- Our first-payment refund policy grants a full refund within 14 days regardless of ordinary use. It does not reduce statutory consumer rights. If we ever rely on a legal exception for immediate performance, we will collect the separate prior express consent and acknowledgement required by applicable law; we do not treat a purchase alone as that consent.
- How to exercise it
- After signing in, use the online function at https://secretus.app/withdrawal and confirm the unequivocal withdrawal statement. It records the request without undue delay, submits an eligible refund and cancellation for processing, and provides a downloadable, time-stamped confirmation. Email to billing@secretus.app is also sufficient; the statutory model form is optional. A technical failure of the online function does not affect your rights.
5. Payment Problems and Disputes
- Failed payments
- If a renewal payment fails, Stripe/Link notifies you and retries. If payment ultimately cannot be collected, the subscription is cancelled and your account reverts to the post-trial limited state.
- Talk to us before a chargeback
- Card disputes are handled by Stripe under Managed Payments, but they take time and can lock your payment method out of the platform. Emailing billing@secretus.app or contacting Link support first almost always resolves the issue faster.
- Fraudulent chargebacks
- Disputing a legitimate, correctly delivered charge instead of using the refund channels above may lead to suspension of the associated account and refusal of future purchases, to the extent permitted by law. Genuine disputes (unrecognized or unauthorized charges) are of course always your right.
- Support split
- Payment, invoice, tax-document, and subscription-billing questions are handled by Link/Stripe support (links in every receipt). Product questions — features, security model, data — are handled by us at the addresses below, on a reasonable best-effort basis without guaranteed response times (see Terms §7).
6. Enterprise and B2B Arrangements
- Custom contracts
- Enterprise access is sold separately under direct B2B agreements (order forms, invoices, negotiated terms). For those arrangements, the refund and cancellation terms of the signed agreement prevail over this page.
- Contact
- For enterprise inquiries, contact billing@secretus.app.
